Kindle Sleeve

Maybe I should have made the title "Oh no, you brought home more fabric!".  This was my husband's response when I came home from the Methodist Church rummage sale a few weeks back.  I didn't get too many things, a packet of wood scroll patterns that would work for making appliques, a plate and fabric.  The fabric is old upholstery samples that were each much larger than a fat quarter, four pieces at a quarter a piece I grabbed them.  Two of the pieces were silk, and a nice deep green.   They still had the company tags on them and were from 1958.  I couldn't believe they hadn't faded or torn over the years.  Well, not to be complained about, I made use of it and still have plenty left over.   My DH bought me a Kindle for our anniversary.  It was a wonderful present and a lifesaver when it came to sitting in airports, planes, and hospitals during my father's illness.  My cousin, accidentally knocked my purse to the floor twice and thankfully no damage but it made me realize I needed something to help protect it.  So, here is my Kindle sleeve:
The colors are actually a more vibrant.  I didn't use a pattern, I left 1/2 seam allowance and more than three times the length.  I only wanted to use what I had so for padding I used a few layers of flannel.  I think it took me an hour to complete.  It made my husband smile.

This is what it looks like closed.  The pin in the center belonged to my Dad:

  1. cute cover!
hubby and I got Kindles around Christmas and use them everyday.
Are you checking the bestseller lists at Amazon everyday to get the free books? I think we have almost 500 books on our Kindles and I am sure we bought less than 10 of them.
