Warm and Buggy

It has been hot and we need rain.  There are burn bans and many of the projects my husband and I wanted to accomplish had to be put off.  Mosquitoes are abundant.  On the bright side we had some baking going on one morning.  Banana muffins and chocolate chip cookies.  Little man will be 10 on Saturday and can practically make a whole batch by himself.  Here he is:

And I have been going through the May issue of Burda Style again.  There are several things I want to make.  They have 50's, 60's styles as well:

I love this skirt:

The dress which is a variation of the skirt:

There is a shirt dress, capris and a couple of other things.  They have an island collection and I have a few things marked off there as well one of which is this blouse:

I have been buying fabric for these patterns and I finally broke down and bought myself a bathing suit.  Since gaining weight I refused to buy one but it's too hot for me to care.  Making one myself would give me an excuse not to wear one so I ran to Walmart and just picked one up:

It's not bad for the price, plenty of support up above and ample coverage down below!  I also finished reading Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools by Victoria Tweed:

Victoria and her husband retire to the Spanish countryside for a new adventure.  There are mishaps and misunderstandings with a lot of laughter.  A nice read and only $2.99 on Kindle.
